Dallas-Area Rules & Regulations

CITY OF ARLINGTON

Home to AT&T Stadium, Arlington, Texas, allows short-term rentals only in certain zones, including a 1-mile radius around the “entertainment district,” the residential medium density zone, and the residential multifamily zone. The City has provided an interactive map of the STR Zone here. Existing residential structures are allowed to short-term rent in non-residential zoning districts and mixed-use zoning districts.

City of Dallas

Short-term rentals are banned in single-family zones and permitted in multifamily, mixed-use, and commercial zones with density caps. However, a December 2023 court injunction blocked enforcement of those restrictions, allowing operators to host for the World Cup matches. The City is continuing to enforce its existing ordinances governing minimum property standards, disturbing noises, and private nuisances. Short-term rental operators must also be registered for and pay the City’s hotel occupancy tax.

City of Fort Worth

Short-term rentals, defined as 1-29 consecutive nights, are banned in all residential zones. They are permitted in all mixed-use zones and most form-based, commercial, and industrial zones. Operators must register with the city.
